Making the Most of the Materials
   Without despending on omdern automated methods,the traditional approach of hand crafting each piece is executed by masters with more than ten years experience . The surface wood is zelkova , a beautifully figured Japanese hardwood. The interior is of Paulownia . This lighweight hardwoods has unique properties which allow it to be extremely resistant to moisture as well as severe temperature changes. It can actually protect and preserve the contents in the drawers.  
 
  Lacquering
   Japan,for the most part, introduced the world to lacquering , and the superior Japanese methods of this techmique has been evidenced by excavated remains that are centuries old, still being preserved in near perfect condition. For this reason, Sendai Craft uses the same difficult , toilsome method of applying its special formula of lacquer to bring out the life of zelkova wood. This provides a finish that will only become more refined , mellow and time goes by. This is the essence of fine quality heirloom furniture.

Ornamentation
  The beautiful ornaments and drawer pulls on the chests are hand fasioned by Mr. Kesakichi yaegashi, a third generation craftsman and Mr. Koichi Yuki . These highly skilled artisans use scores of handmade tools to craft up flowers and dragons out of a piece of iron plate. Other various metal ornaments are of original design and use precise metal alloy casting techaniquse before being hand finished, similar to the methods by fine jewelers.
